Hobbits Hitting the Road: Lord of the Rings Stars Plan Epic 25th Anniversary Tour

Well, here’s something that’ll make any Tolkien fan lose their mind. The hobbits are going on tour—like, actually touring America to mark 25 years since that first fellowship movie hit theaters.

Sean Astin, Billy Boyd, Dominic Monaghan, and Elijah Wood are reuniting for what Fan Expo HQ is calling “An Evening with the Hobbits.” And honestly… It sounds way more interesting than your typical convention panel. They’re planning storytelling sessions, variety show elements, behind-the-scenes stories that probably haven’t been told yet… the kind of stuff that makes you feel like you’re sitting around with old friends sharing memories over a pint (or seven).

The tour kicks off in January 2026 and hits 11 cities across North America. Each stop gets two nights of this, which is pretty generous considering how packed these things usually get.

Here’s where they’re going:

New Orleans – January 10 at 7:30 PM
Portland – January 17 at 7:30 PM
Vancouver – February 14-16
Orlando (MEGACON) – March 21 at 7:30 PM
Calgary – April 25 at 7:30 PM
Denver – May 28-31
Philadelphia – May 29-31
Boston – August 8 at 7:30 PM
Chicago – August 15 at 7:30 PM
Toronto – August 29 at 7:30 PM
Dallas – September 12 at 7:30 PM

Something interesting: there’s this weird gap in July. No shows scheduled at all. That lines up perfectly with when THE HUNT FOR GOLLUM is supposed to be filming in New Zealand. We know Elijah’s involved in that spinoff—it takes place during those 17 years between Bilbo’s party and the Council meeting—but maybe all four actors have roles to play? Just speculation, but the timing’s suspicious.

Tickets droped October 22 at 10 AM for each city. You can grab them at fanexpohq.com/home/the-lord-of-the-rings-25th-anniversary-tour/
Options range from just the stage show to photo ops (starting around $80 in most places), autographs, group experiences… there’s even some “ultimate package” they’re offering, though details on that are still vague.

Look, it’s been 25 years. These movies shaped an entire generation’s relationship with fantasy storytelling. Getting all four hobbits together for an extended tour like this? That’s not something that happens every day. Or every decade, frankly.
